My Monday Musings #16 – Even Though It’s Sunday

You’re probably wondering why I chose to bring MMM back today, a Sunday. Well, that’s because I didn’t have any other post ideas and was too lazy to think of another alliterative name. I didn’t want to use “Sunday Status,” because that’s my friend Ashleigh does on her blog. Also, it would be kind of dumb to have two posts that were literally the same, just titled differently so it could go up on a different day. πŸ˜‰

ANYWAY, hi guys! I hope your weekend is going well! I’m doing a MMM today as a more easygoing post and a sort of update, because I didn’t have inspiration for anything else. And besides, relaxed posts are good every so often, right? Right.Β (It’s kind of old, but PLEASE tell me you got that reference.)

If I had a specific format for MMM before, it’s essentially going out the window. For today, I’m going to start with my current read. πŸ˜›

This should be no surprise. I’ve been addicted to Richelle Mead’s books since last summer, when I got Vampire Academy for my birthday in June. I finished Last Sacrifice, the sixth book, in September, and then started Bloodlines, the sequel series, in October. Other than the first two VA books, which got 4.5 stars, I’ve given 5 stars to all the other books in VA and the ones I’ve read so far in Bloodlines. I’m sure this one, #4, will be no different. ❀

I started The Fiery Heart on Friday, and I’m currently 306 pages in. I’m not kidding when I say I absolutely love Richelle’s books. I haven’t read any yet today, so all of that was accomplished in two days. I’m hoping to finish it today and start one of the ARCs I received. πŸ™‚

Also, Sydney and Adrian have filled my heart, and I’m nervous. VA crushed my soul from the third book to the last, and Bloodlines hasn’t yet. Something is going to happen and I just know I’m not ready for it.

So now for a little life update. It won’t be long, because for the most part my life isn’t super exciting. XD

For a couple of weeks now, I haven’t had much inspiration. I’ve been posting sporadically on here, as I’m sure you guys are aware, and I’m currently taking a break from Instagram because I don’t want to take/post pictures I don’t like. I think this is tied to the fact that for about the same amount of time, I’ve been feeling … down, I guess, and I can’t explain why. I know I’ve mentioned that here, albeit rarely, and I’m bringing it up again so you guys know why I haven’t been posting as much. I’m working on getting some semblance of a posting schedule back, and next month it should be returning to normal. March is when I have spring break, so hopefully I can post a lot in that time. πŸ™‚

So far, this month has even been my lowest for reading. I’ve read three books, and The Fiery Heart will be my fourth. It feels weird reading so little.

Anyway, I’m going to move on to something positive now. A little over two weeks ago, I got an exciting and beyond surreal email. If you follow me on Twitter I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. But for those who don’t, I was offered a position as a staff writer for Affinity Magazine! I didn’t know what AM was until right before I applied to be a writer, and applying was completely impulsive. Getting accepted was a huge surprise, and a huge honor. If you don’t know, basically AM is an online teen magazine. So far, I’ve had two articles published – one about emotions and another about politics. The latter is my first time really delving into that topic, as I tend to avoid it online, but I wanted to expand my writing. I’m excited to continue writing for them. πŸ™‚

I had to take an unexpectedly long break from writing this to go shopping. In that time I persuaded my family to take a trip to Barnes & Noble, where I got my sister her own copy of Anna and the French Kiss and then a copy of Silver Shadows, Bloodlines #5, for me. It was a really good decision on my part, because I have about 17 pages left of The Fiery Heart and IT IS SO CRUEL. Ahem. I’m totally okay. πŸ™‚

I thought after I finished TFH I’d read the two ARCs I’ve gotten recently from Penguin Teen, and then finish the Bloodlines series. Now, that’s laughable. I’m going to be binge-reading the other two books, and then probably A Conjuring of Light, and finally, the ARCs. No regrets. (Also, I pre-ordered ACOL!)

That’s about all I have to say, so I’ll wrap this up here. Writing a more relaxed, personal post like this was really fun, so let me know if you’d like more of these!

What are you currently reading? What series are you obsessed with right now? Has anything exciting happened to you? I’d love to know! Tell me in the comments! πŸ™‚

I’m off to finish my book and destroy my soul in the process. Good times. πŸ˜‰ I hope you all have a fabulous day/night, and that it’s much calmer than mine! ❀

Until next time…
