8 Series I Think Would Make Cool TV Shows!

Hi guys! I hope your week has been wonderful! ❤ Apart from having to give a speech at school yesterday, mine has been great. I’m currently reading Frozen Tides by Morgan Rhodes, the fourth Falling Kingdoms book, and next week I only have two days of school. Thank all the real and fictional gods for Thanksgiving break! 😛

Briefly, before I get into this post, I just wanted to say thank you for 200 followers! I happened to notice this little detail when scrolling through my blog to reference something for this post. I don’t care about numbers, but I wanted to acknowledge it. I probably won’t write an actual post until I hit 500 followers (well, if I do, haha) so… THANK YOU. It means a lot. ❤

Okay, so I won’t ramble or be cheesy any longer. Let’s get into this post! 🙂

Now, let me explain: I know that the majority of us in the book community aren’t a fan of movie or TV adaptations, because we’re nervous our favorite books/series will be ruined. However, there are still series I think would make amazing shows, so long as they’re accurate, have a good director and writer, and get a great cast. Note, I did say shows rather than movies because I think the chances of accuracy and reader happiness would be higher with a show, since that has multiple episodes as opposed to a movie having only about two hours. 😉

Anyway, that aside, here are eight YA series I think would make fantastic shows!

*in no particular order*

1. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

ACOTAR

This is my favorite series ever, so of course it had to be included. In all seriousness, though, seeing this on a screen would be epic. I would love to see Feyre and Rhys and Lucien brought to life, and I’m sure the courts of Prythian would be gorgeous. It would also be interesting to see how the ending of ACOTAR and certain parts of ACOMAF, like the water wolves, would be done. 🙂

My requirements (aka what I hope would happen, if this actually became a show): the sassiest, snarkiest guy has to play Rhys. Cassian, too, once the show reached that point.

2. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

tog

I’ll go ahead and put Sarah’s other series on here, since it’s my other favorite. There’s actually rumors of a TV adaptation floating around already, and I would be thrilled. Being about to watch Celaena’s journey throughout the series and personal development would be so cool. Not to mention, with all of the other main characters that have been introduced, there would be so many story-lines to follow! 😀

My requirements: Piéra Forde as Celaena. She’s the biggest TOG fan I’ve seen yet, and the little clip on she took part in based on The Assassin’s Blade is amazing.

3. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

SOC

Okay, let’s be real: who wouldn’t watch this? It’s absolutely amazing, full of twists, and the best gang of outcasts and criminals you could ever want. If you haven’t read this book you should, and then I’m fairly sure you’d understand why I would love for it to be a show. 😉

My requirements: Actual people of color and disabled people to play the main six characters. And whoever plays Nina shouldn’t be a twig, because’s she’s described as a bit of a bigger girl. Basically, just make the cast accurate.

4. Die for Me by Amy Plum

dfm

Probably my most recent obsession out of all the series on this list. It’s a super entertaining and cute paranormal romance read with mythology too, and it’s set in Paris. I would totally watch this! And no, of course my obsession with France has nothing to do with it. 😉

My requirements: French actors. And the show should be filmed in France, because the Eiffel Tower, River Seine, and other areas are very important to the story!

5. Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

Illuminae

Since the two books out so far follow completely different plot-lines, one season could be about Kady and Ezra, and the other about Hanna and Nic. Also, AIDAN would be hilarious on-screen. XD

My requirements: Filming in space wouldn’t be possible, or if it was it would be very difficult and extremely expensive, so there would have to be awesome CGI.

6. Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan

pjo 1

It’s commonly known that we try not to think about the movie adaptations of the first two books. They were good movies, sure, but in terms of accuracy, I’d give them about a -2/10. I don’t mean to be harsh, but I think many (if not all) PJO fans would agree. I would love for this series to get a second chance at an adaptation, and while we’re at it, maybe a sequel series that followed The Heroes of Olympus books. 🙂

My requirements: Make the trio 12-13 instead of 15-18, and make Annabeth blonde. They fixed the latter in the Sea of Monsters movie, but I don’t think they should’ve had to fix it in the first place. Also, since it would be hard to make most older teenagers look and sound like tweens and young teens, maybe have actors of the appropriate age.

7. Across the Universe by Beth Revis

across the universe review

This series is a blend of sci-fi, mystery, and romance that involves cryogenic freezing gone wrong and space travel to a new planet. It would be a really interesting, unique show. 😀

My requirements: Similar to Illuminae, I just want really cool CGI effects since it takes place in space, and also for the cryogenic bits.

8. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

cinder

Who wouldn’t want to watch a show about fractured fairy-tales in a futuristic setting? I mean, come on. It would be so epic! The fight against Levana, the adventures on the Rampion, the romance, the diversity, the multitude of unexpected twists… I would be ecstatic if this ever became a show. 😀

My requirements: Again, like Six of Crows, actual people of color to play the characters. Maybe there’s even an actress with prosthetics that could play Cinder. That last bit isn’t so much a requirement as wishful thinking, because I know it’s unlikely and that Iko would be purely CGI. I would just want accurate representation in the cast.

And that wraps up this post! Although there will be a part two in the future, because it turns out I have a lot more ideas. 😉

Do you agree with any of my picks? What series would you love to see as a TV show? What would your requirements be? I’d love to know! Tell me in the comments! 🙂

I’m off to play some Super Mario 3D World before bed. 😛 I hope you all have a fabulous day/night! ❤

Until next time…
