If You Like This, Read This! #1

Hi guys! Recently I’ve been so determined to make progress on my current read that I’ve fallen into a bit of an idea slump. But I didn’t want to disappear on you guys, so I was skimming my list of post ideas and thought of this. 🙂

It’s not the most original idea, but it sounded fun, so I’m doing it. Now, without further rambling ado, here are three lesser-known books you’ll *hopefully* love! (Your TBR pile and your wallet won’t, but that’s not important.)

1. If you like Percy Jackson, read The Goddess Test.

PJ is an extremely popular midde-grade series about a boy discovering Greek mythology. TGT is an under-hyped young adult series that retells the widely-known Persephone myth. There are a lot of differences, but the mythology we all love is very apparent. TGT is a bit gory, but it’s also a fantastic urban fantasy with pops of romance. 😀

2. If you like Harry Potter and The Mortal Instruments, read A Darker Shade of Sorcery.

HP is basically an unofficial classic. Everyone knows and loves of the magical world of Hogwarts. TMI isn’t quite to that point, but is still a very popular young adult series about the secret world of Shadowhunters. ADSOS is kind of a mix between the two, with a secret magical school for sorcerers to learn magic and weaponry in order to fight demons. It’s actually my current read, and while I’ll admit it has a somewhat rocky beginning, it’s enjoyable so far. 😀

3. If you like A Court of Thorns and Roses, read Cruel Beauty.

ACOTAR is possibly one of the most popular, loved books in the young adult community. It’s a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, and in my opinion, perfection. CB is another retelling of the same fairy-tale, but in a dark, dystopian world. It’s slightly confusing at times, but Ignifex, the “beast,” is similar to Magnus Bane from the Shadowhunter books. Basically, a dystopian version of BATB with a male lead that resembles our (or just my?) favorite warlock. 😀 (If that doesn’t make you want to read it, I don’t know what will.)

* Is it just me, or do these covers just look fabulous together?

And that’s all for now! This was fun to write, so I’ll probably do more in the future. 😀

Have you read any of these three under-rated books? Are any on your TBR? If you have read any, did you enjoy them? I’d love to know! 🙂

I’m off to continue reading A Darker Shade of Sorcery! I hope you all have a spectacular day/night. ❤

Until next time…
