Liebster Questions & A to Z Book Tag

Hi guys! I’m home from school again today because I’m nauseous and my legs still hurt from my gym class on Friday. :/ But I have time to read and blog, so it’s not too bad! πŸ˜‰

Liebster Questions

So a few weeks ago Melanie @ It’s a Bookish Thing 13 nominated me for the Liebster Award. I’ve already done it twice, but she had some good questions and I wanted to answer them. πŸ™‚

Why did you start blogging?

Just about the same reason everyone else didΒ β€” I wanted to talk with people about books. It was originally intended to be a casual hobby, but now it’s a passion. πŸ˜€

What book or book series got you into reading?

Harry Potter and Percy Jackson. I started HP when I was six and PJ when I was seven. I was a mature kid. XD

What was the last book you read?

The Iron King by Julie Kagawa. You can find my review here if you’re interested. πŸ™‚

What is your favorite book genre and why?

YA. I don’t really know why. I guess it’s because I feel too old to enjoy MG and I don’t feel like trying NA yet, and this is the in-between. There’s a huge variety of genres and books to choose from, and they’re just fun to read. πŸ™‚

What are some of your guilty pleasures?

Butterscotch disc candies and mini one-serving cartons of Blue Bunny super fudge brownie ice cream. I eat both every day and I have for about two weeks now. An ice cream is my dessert every night and I suck on the candies throughout the day. πŸ˜›

Going to the movie theater or staying home with Netflix?

Staying home with a book. πŸ˜›

If you could travel through time, to what era would you go and why?

London, England, 1878. Tessa, Will, Jem, and Magnus. Enough said. πŸ˜€

Shop for books online or at a bookstore?

Definitely at a bookstore. I love exploring the YA section, and getting books the same day. Waiting for books to ship and arrive when you order online is difficult. I also love seeing other people in YA trying to decide what to get so I can innocently shove Throne of Glass in their faces. πŸ˜›

If you could have lunch with one fictional character, who would it be?

I would say Iko from The Lunar Chronicles because she’s a fun character, but she’s an escort droid so she can’t eat. So instead, I’ll go with… Dorian from Throne of Glass. After everything he went through in Queen of Shadows, he could use a casual lunch out. And he loves to read, so we’d have plenty to talk about. πŸ˜€

What is your favorite quote?

Not from a bookΒ β€” “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.” – Dr. Seuss

I think it’s a good quote to live by. πŸ™‚

From a bookΒ β€” “‘As for the temperature of Hell, Miss Gray,’ he said, ‘let me give you a piece of advice. The handsome young fellow who’s trying to rescue you from a hideous fate is never wrong. Not even if he says the sky is purple and made of hedgehogs.'” – Will Herondale, Clockwork Angel

This is one of my favorite funny quotes. Honestly, Will is full of those. XD

What are your blogging goals?

Just keep it going, really. πŸ™‚

A to Z Book Tag

I saw Stephanie @ Adventures of a Bibliophile do this yesterday and it looked fun, so I thought I’d do it too. πŸ™‚

Author you’ve read the most books from.

According to the Goodreads feature, I’ve read 18 books by Rick Riordan. I’m not surprised by that. He’s one of my top three favorite authors. πŸ˜€

Best sequel ever.

Crown of Midnight met and exceeded the high expectations I had after reading Throne of Glass. Is it just me, or does the series somehow get even better with each book? πŸ˜€

Currently reading.

The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson. I’m 75% through according to Goodreads, so I should finish today. πŸ™‚

Drink of choice while reading.

I don’t typically drink anything while I read. I do love eating chocolate and sucking on butterscotch though. πŸ˜›

E-reader or physical book.

Physical books. I did get a Kindle last week, but so far I haven’t read anything on it because I still have physical books to read. I think even after I start reading on it, I’ll still like physical more because you can feel it and manually turn the pages. πŸ˜‰

Fictional character you probably would’ve actually dated in high school.

I don’t have an answer for this.

Glad you gave this book a chance.

Throne of Glass. Last summer I picked it up at the library thinking it might be a cool book, and now it’s my favorite series ever. πŸ˜€

Hidden gem book.

Anomaly by Tonya Kuper and The Goddess Test by AimΓ©e Carter. I probably never would’ve picked either up if I hadn’t found signed copies at Barnes & Noble. I’m glad I did though! They’re both favorites now. πŸ˜‰

Important moment in your reading life.

Starting this blog in September, and when it took off in November. ❀

Just finished.

The Iron King by Julie Kagawa.

Kinds of books you won’t read.

In general, anything that’s not YA or MG. More specifically, anything with intense gore or romance.

Longest book you’ve read.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix at 870 pages, and Winter is a close second at 824. πŸ™‚

Major book hangover because of.

I can’t think of anything. I typically start a new book the same day I finish one.

Number of bookshelves you own.

One for now. πŸ˜‰

One book you’ve read multiple times.

I’ve read Percy Jackson three times and Heroes of Olympus twice. πŸ˜€

Preferred place to read.

The big green chair in the living room. It’s so comfy. πŸ˜€

Quote from a book that inspires you / gives you all the feels.

Inspires meΒ β€” “‘Let’s go rattle the stars.'” – Aelin Galathynius, Queen of Shadows

I love it as much as everyone else. I had to include it. πŸ˜›

Gives me the feelsΒ β€” “‘I can offer you my life, but it is a short life; I can offer you my heart, though I have no idea how many more beats it shall sustain.'” – Jem Carstairs, Clockwork Prince

This was one of the best scenes in the book. ❀

Reading regret.

I can’t think of any.

Series you started and need to finish. (all books are out)

I need to read Dreams of Gods and Monsters, the last book in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy.

Three of your all-time favorite books.

I know my favorite series, but I can’t choose books within them, so: Throne of Glass, The Shadowhunter Chronicles, and The Lunar Chronicles. πŸ˜€

Unapologetic fangirl for.

The series mentioned in the previous question, as well as Rick Riordan’s books, the Anna trilogy, The Goddess Test, Shatter Me, Lux, Sweet Evil, and more. πŸ˜€

Very excited for this release, more than all the others.

Throne of Glass #5 and Lady Midnight. ❀

Worst bookish habit.

I’m not sure I have any..?

X marks the spot: start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book.

The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas. πŸ™‚

Your latest book purchase.

On Saturday I got four new books at Barnes & NobleΒ β€” The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas, We Were Liars by E. Lockhart, An Ember In The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir, and Miss Peregrine’s by Ransom Riggs. I’ll be reading them all next month, most likely. πŸ™‚ Also, I’m not sure if this counts, but I ordered four sets of bookmarks from Happy Hello Co on Etsy on Saturday as well. They’re my first purchase from the store! πŸ˜€

ZZZ-snatcher. (book that kept you up WAY late)

I’ve yet to stay up late reading, but I want to. πŸ˜›

I tag anyone who wants to do this! If you have done this or decide to do it, leave a link in the comments so I can read it. πŸ™‚

That’s all I have for now! I’m off to keep reading, and hopefully my review for The Heart of Betrayal will be up today! πŸ™‚

Until next time…
