Hi guys! I’ve seen Alicia @ A Kernel of Nonsense do this for a while now, and I finally decided to join in on the fun. 😀
The Friday 56 is a weekly blog meme hosted by Freda’s Voice. Join us every Friday and share an excerpt from a book you’ve been reading.
Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader.
*Find any sentence (or a few, just don’t spoil it) that grab you.
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post here in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url. It’s that simple.
I was rooted to the spot in which I stood, the sting of rejection burning through my skin, shredding my insides like I was nothing more than papier-mâché.
Opposition is the final book in the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout, which is one of my favorites. I’m actually only on page 17, but I have a feeling that just like Daemon saved Katy in Origin, she’ll save him in this book. I’m excited to see how this series ends, but at the same time I never want it to. Finishing this will be bittersweet.
I can’t really summarize Opposition without spoiling anyone who hasn’t read the series, but here’s the Goodreads synopsis for Obsidian, the first book:
Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring… until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something… unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don’t kill him first, that is.
It’s a fantastic YA paranormal romance and I’d recommend it to just about everyone. I mean, come on – aliens, powers, and a main character that loves books. That’s practically the best combination ever! 😀 The only way to make it better is to add more glitter and narwhals.
If you’re interested in Obsidian, you can find the Goodreads page here and my (spoiler-free) review here. 🙂
Have you read any of the Lux books? Are they on your TBR? If you have read them, what did you think? I’d love to know! 😀
I’m laughing SO hard at this sentence from the synopsis: “Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy.” ‘Stab worthy’ HAHA he totally is. I loved this series.

Welcome to The Friday 56!
I’ve only read the first in the series, but I’m definitely considering continuing the series! I thought it was cool that it was set near Seneca Rocks! 🙂
Check out my Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings).
