Meet My Pets!

Hi guys!! I’ve been wanting to make my blog more personal for a little while now, and when I was scrolling through my feed reading other blogs, I saw Mariana’s post about her pets. That inspired me to do something similar, so here I am. πŸ˜€

I have four pets: a dog, two cats, and a bird. For each one I’ll attach pictures, tell a bit about their personality, and how we got them. πŸ™‚ Let’s get to it!

Tucker

Tucker is 3 years old, and he’s a mutt. XD He’s a golden retriever, lab, poodle, and vizsla mix. We like to joke around and call him a giraffe because he has really long legs and slides around the house. XD He’s very energetic, super protective, and intimidates people a lot, but he’s really just a big softie. XD

We got him when he was 7Β½ weeks old, back in October 2012. He was doing really well and his breeder (who was very responsible) said a few more days wouldn’t make a difference. It was a surprise to me, and you can guess how happy I was when we picked him up. πŸ˜€

He’s very spoiled because he’s our first dog. He’s allowed on the couch and my bed, and gets bones to chew on frequently. He can only have bones though, because he rips anything else up. XD

Back in September 2015 he had a bad accident and had to have his tail amputated. Previously it was about 1Β½ feet and now it’s about 2-3 inches. 😦 We feel really bad that it happened, even though it wasn’t our fault (not going into that because it’s a long story). But we do joke that now he can’t “whip” us with his tail anymore, and his nub (as we’ve taken to calling it) is cute anyway. πŸ™‚

Lily

Lily was a Chihuahua-Yorkie mix (we called her a Chorkie) and she was 4 years old. We got her in the early summer of 2013, roughly 6 months after we got Tucker, because he was getting bigger than we anticipated and I wanted a smaller dog I could pick up and dress up at leisure.

She was a very feisty little girl and I got her a bunch of clothes and squeaky toys that I couldn’t get for Tucker. She loved to cuddle with everyone that she decided she liked (otherwise she barked and tried to be scary XD ) and it was so much fun to see her interact with Tucker because he was way bigger than her.

You probably noticed I said was instead of is. That’s because when we adopted her when she was 3 years old, we didn’t know she had a bad, recurring stomach disease. In the summer of 2014, she got sick twice but got over it. Then 2 weeks before her 5th birthday, she got sick again and we had to put her down. It was August 20th and it was the most devastating day I can remember. I still miss her (as is expected) but it’s not as bad anymore. RIP Lily. ❀

Ember

Ember is 1Β½ years old and she’s a tabby. She’s very small (we call her Bitty) but still really feisty. She likes to cuddle on her own time, but most of the time she runs and plays and gets into stuff (as cats do XD ). It’s her remaining kitten energy, I think.

We adopted her from our local humane society when she was 9 weeks old. She was originally named Layla, but I changed her name to Ember because I thought it was unique and suited her coloring. She’s a very unique cat in my opinion, because she has stripes on her back and spots on her belly. She also has a single white spot on her neck. I like to poke it sometimes. XD

I got Ember only 10 days after we put Lily down. I intended to wait out the school year and adopt a puppy the following summer, but I missed Lily too much and caved for a kitten less than 2 weeks after. It wasn’t planned, but I love her to pieces and wouldn’t give her up for anything. ❀

Ziggy

Ziggy is 10 years old and he’ll be 11 in the end of March. Unlike Ember, he isn’t very active; he sleeps more than anything, likely because of his age. On occasion he’ll bat around a toy mouse, but most of the time he leaves the toys for Ember. He’s kind of fat and waddles somewhat when he walks. XD That’s because his main passion is food, and his favorite time of day is whenever he gets food. We don’t feed him excessively, but he scarfs all his meals. XD

We’ve had Ziggy since he was born, literally. We adopted his mom from the vet and saved her from being put down, then there was an accident and she got outside before we could spay her. She came back and had kittens not long after. We had to give all the other kittens away because she had more than was allowed in our town but kept her and Ziggy. Now he’s the only one left though, because after a few years we moved and had to give his mom to a friend.

Amber

I’m not actually sure how old Amber is; I think she’s around 5 years old but I don’t know. She’s a very feisty, crabby bird and stays in her cage because the store we bought her from didn’t train her beforehand. Now if we try to touch her she tries to nip us with her beak.

When I was younger I got a crayfish as a pet because a friend couldn’t take care of her anymore. I don’t recall what I named her, but I was excited. I only had her that summer though, because after that she mysteriously died while I was at school. About a month later we were at the pet store and picked out Amber because blue was my current favorite color and my mom said no to a turtle. XD

And those are all my pets! I love them all, and I want a bunch more in the future; mainly dogs, but a couple of cats, birds, bunnies, and turtles, too. XD I’ll be the crazy pet lady; one room will be for my animals, one for my books, and one for me. πŸ˜‰

Do you have and/or want any pets? If so, what are they / what kind? Feel free to tell me in the comments! πŸ˜€

  1. I loved the post! Yay personal! Poor Lily. 😦 I only have 3 cats, not nearly as interesting as you, but I want yours! Wahaha. Xx

  2. Oh my goodness, look at all these beautiful animals. I love seeing what kind of pets other people have (and sharing pictures of my own). I love both cats and dogs and seeing a picture of your bird reminds me of my childhood when we used to own birds. Love the name Ember for your kitty.
