clockwork angel review

I have smacked myself multiple times as I progressed through the story because I can’t believe I didn’t read this sooner. I adored (and still do) The Mortal Instruments and yet I completely overlooked this trilogy. But now I’ve read the first book and I adore it just as much as TMI. 😍

I feel like Cassandra did an excellent job writing Victorian London. I haven’t read many books in that time period, but I think it was very well-done. When I was reading I felt as if I might actually have been there experiencing it for myself. (I wish I could have, but since I can’t I’ll just go visit London and daydream. 😊)

I loved all of the characters (and loved despising Mortmain). They were all so realistic and unique, but they fit together so well. I really liked that Tessa enjoyed reading, and honestly I felt like I could relate to her almost instantly. In that aspect, anyway. Jem was so sweet, although after learning his secret, I’m terrified that he’s going to die. I’ve heard that Clockwork Princess is heartbreaking, and I feel like that would be a good reason as to why. NO SPOILERS PLEASE.

Moving on to my new favorite character, Will. OH MY GOD. I was so excited to understand why everyone loves him so much, and now I do. I FEEL THE SAME WAY. He’s hilarious and cocky and sarcastic, but still caring and friendly. Basically he’s just awesome. I can see where Jace gets it!! 😂😍

And then there’s my other favorite character. Magnus Bane. I was super excited when he appeared in the story, probably too much so, but he’s just epic and goofy and fabulous and HE LOVES GLITTER (like me!). I was really happy when he showed up, and I loved that the epilogue was about him!

Which leads me to my next thing… THAT ENDING. What’s Will’s problem? How is Magnus going to help? Is it good? Is it bad? IS IT ABOUT TESSA? I NEED TO KNOW (again no spoilers!). I have a pretty good idea, but I need to be sure, and I just need more of it all. More Will, more Magnus, and more everything (especially how Tessa is towards Nate after that fiasco!). I should’ve gotten Clockwork Prince at Barnes & Noble today, but I didn’t. I love what I got, but I’m really wishing I got that. 😁

So, long story short, I adored this book! I need to get my hands on a copy of the next one. I know I’ll love it just as much!! 😍

Until next time– Olivia ❤️ (my Instagram and my Twitter)
